Manchin Injury Law Group Participates in Marion County’s Day of Action

On Thursday, June 21, 2018, the Marion County United Way held its Inaugural Day of Action. The Manchin Injury Law Group closed its office for the day in order to participate in the Day of Action and to give back to the community.

Over 100 volunteers gathered at Palatine Park at 11:00am to start the “kick-off” event for the day. Volunteers enjoyed a lunch provided by Roger’s Electric and received a Day of Action T-Shirt. A group photo was taken with all the volunteers before they were separated by their projects. The United Way was very excited for the turnout as some chapters who have been hosting the Day of Action for years only have 100-200 volunteers.

The Manchin Injury Law Group attorneys and staff chose to get out of the office and get their hands dirty by landscaping the Marion County Senior Center on Maplewood Drive in Fairmont. The attorneys and staff arrived shortly before noon and took a quick tour around the property to evaluate what needed to be done. The tour ended on the backside of the building with 3 pallets of mulch stacked about 6’ tall just waiting to be used.

With all 10 people volunteering, we broke into groups to focus on certain sections and to get the job done. After an hour or two of pulling weeds, mulch finally started to be placed. Old trees were pulled out and we even helped a neighbor who needed a small tree pulled out of his yard. Once the weeds were gone, we also planted flowers. We are proud to say that all three pallets of mulch were used and that the landscaping looks great!

It is a core belief at the Manchin Injury Law Group to give back to the community. In addition to participating in the United Way’s Day of Caring, our office routinely donates to local charities, honors a first responder each month, and can be found participating in many community service activities throughout the year.
