Gas Well Incident Causes Fatality

A Lewis County, West Virginia, man has died following an incident at a Tyler County, West Virginia, natural gas drilling site.  The incident which occurred last Thursday took place at a U.S. Well Services Site in Tyler County.  Various news agencies are reporting that the incident occurred when the individual was pinned between a truck and a stationary object. 

According to news reports, the Middlebourne EMS responded to the initial call and the Tyler County Sheriff’s Department is also involved.  Prentice Cline, the area director for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s office in Charleston said the individual sustained crushing injuries from the rear of a tractor trailer.  Cline said that OSHA was investigating the incident to see what caused it and if there was any violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

U.S. Well Services is a company based out of Houston, Texas, and operates int he Marcellus and Utica Shale regions.  U.S. Well Service operates on a 24-hour basis at many shale basins across the country according to its website.
