Local news outlets are reporting this morning that a car accident in Elkins has caused the death of at least one person. The accident occurred on July 18, 2014, on Route 33 at the Crystal Springs exit near Elkins. According to police and news reports, a vehicle headed westbound hit another vehicle causing it to catch fire. The passengers of the vehicle were able to escape before the car became fully engulfed in flames. While the fire didn’t cause any injuries, one of the individuals involved in the wreck was killed as a result of injuries sustained on impact and two others were flown to the hospital as a result of impact related injuries. According to State Police, charges could be pending.
