Child Custody

In cases where children are involved, we work hard to determine the child’s best interest.

How is child custody determined?

Child custody is decided by the Family Law Judge, unless the parents can reach their own agreement. Often, it is suggested that activities done with one parent before the divorce should be continued with that parent after the divorce. There are other factors that can affect a child custody determination such as how close the parents live to one another and the age of the children. The limiting factors of one parent may also affect the custody determination. Both parents often share the decision-making responsibility of the child for major decisions.
