8 Injured in Gas Well Site Explosion in Doddridge County, WV

Eight people were injured after an explosion at a gas well drilling site in Doddridge County, West Virginia, early Sunday Morning.  Doddridge County Emergency Services stated that the explosion occurred around 4 o’clock in the morning at a well site in New Milton, West Virginia.

Antero Vice president of production told television station WBOY that crews were preparing to enter production tubing into the well when the explosion occurred and indicated that five contrat workers from the site were transported to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. 

According to its website, Antero Resources was formed in 2002 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with district offices in Mount Clare, West Virginia, and Marietta, Ohio. 

When an individual is injured on the job, the individual is able to be compensated by worker’s compensation for health care and reduction in ability to work.  However, in West Virginia, if an individual has been egregiously injured on the job because of safety violations or an employer’s carelessness, an individual may bring a cause of action known as a deliberate intent cause of action.  This cause of action is set forth in the West Virginia Code Section 23-4-2.
